In the summer of 1987 two young medical doctors - Dr. Babu and Dr. Sally Narendran set out from their native town in Kerala to this remote forest area with the sole intention of serving the people here with their medical skills. They both had to leave behind their lucrative medical practice back home. The living conditions of those tribal people living in the jungle hamlets without any medical facilities, schooling , running water or electricity was really pathetic. It was a turning point in their lives. They decided to do something for their upliftment. The work started in a one-roomed clinic and it gradually grew up to be a full-fledged nursing home. Thousands of deliveries, minor surgeries and emergency treatments were administered during these years. The hospital work became a blessing to the people here. The work of Hope Trust India expanded from medical care to and orphanage and school in the early 2000s. Hundreds of children are being benefited by the orphanage and school work. Starting an English medium school for the tribal children was a dream for this doctor couple. They worked towards it one step at a time. Started with a mere strength of 20, the school has developed into a proper matriculation school with 200 students. Many students who graduated from the school are well-placed in their careers.
